About override: if Richard has stepped away (vacation, sick day, left for the day), you can take over the bind. The action is logged with your producer ID and a reason — agency principal can audit override usage. Once SSO with per-producer login lands post-launch, the override button goes away.

As Producer B opening a submission Producer A is mid-bind on, I want a clear "Bind in progress by [Producer A from dropdown]" gate that hard-blocks me from entering bind — not a soft warn.
As any agency producer, I want an "override lock" button on the gate to free a bind that's idle or orphaned.

Interactions

Shared agency login — Carl's launch model. Both Richard and Carl are logged in as "Schneider Insurance" with a producer dropdown selection. Without per-producer SSO, the producer dropdown drives attribution and lock semantics.
Override lock — captures override reason, logged for audit. Agency principal can review. Removed when per-producer SSO is implemented (Phase-2).

Design notes

Hard block, not soft warn — Carl's UX call. Prevents two producers stepping on each other's signature collection.
Optimistic locking (version field, 409 on conflict) per ALT-23 leaning — this UI is the user-facing manifestation.
Auto-release on commit or abandon; 4-hour idle timeout for hung locks.
"Locked by" names the producer from the dropdown — works because attribution is by dropdown selection at launch.
Override is the safety valve for the "producer left for vacation" case since we don't have agency-principal SSO yet.

Edge cases not shown

Lock held by same producer in another browser/session (warning to consolidate)
Auto-release fires while user is waiting (gate disappears, can enter)
Override conflict — two producers both override within seconds (last-writer wins, both audit logged)
Override during sig-collection window (rarer; producer A might still have the unsigned packet)
